Vortex Gallery opened in Stoke Newington in 1984, and became an established part of the independent gallery scene, showing art from both established artists and newcomers.
Vortex Redux
Homeless since the 1990s, Vortex Gallery has re-emerged in pop-up form, as Vortex Redux, with a temporary home in Fitzroy Square, London, and the first exhibition in May 2026.
Exhibition : ESTUARY PROJECT
The Estuary Project is a collaboration between Paul Davey, one of the original artists at the Vortex Gallery in the 1980’s, and Irving Kinnersley, electro-acoustic composer. It focuses on their responses to the Steart Marshes wetlands reserves on the Somerset coast, with paintings and immersive soundscape.
